Gestures

Don't sit with your hands stuck to the table. Use gestures to emphasise what you are saying.

Eye contact

Maintain eye contact, don't allow your gaze to wander around the room, and don't avoid looking at other people.

Open posture

Sit or stand with an open posture towards the other person. They will then subconsciously perceive you as more trustworthy and sincere.

Smile

A smile is a simple but surprisingly effective way to influence the other participant positively and convey confidence.

Facial expressions

Use your facial muscles and accompany your speech with corresponding expressions. This enhances credibility and sincerity.

Responding to others

When someone speaks, nod to show you are engaged. Respond to others’ statements with appropriate facial expressions.

Breathing

Breathe slowly and calmly, inhale between sentences rather than between individual words. Avoid shallow breathing.
